I’m Jane Henry,
an artist, creative director, and community builder rooted in the Tehachapi mountains. My work lives where craft meets strategy: I make art, host beginner-friendly workshops, and help venues and small businesses tell stories that feel human and actually work.
A defining chapter for me came during the pandemic, when both of my part-time jobs shut down. In my tiny kitchen, I started decorating and selling cakes—and for the first time, I found real success working for myself. That season taught me to listen, iterate, and build from scratch. I bring that same energy to every project.
Place shapes my palette and motifs: poppies, lupine, monarch butterflies, jackrabbits, roadrunners, and the quiet geometry of snakes warming on stone. I love making maps and borrowing the clarity of vintage scientific illustration—clean lines, honest details, a sense of wonder.
I care about access. So far this year I’ve hosted twelve workshops, designed to be materials-light and confidence-building so people leave with a finished piece.
Collaboration keeps me inspired. Partners include Mango Haus, Old West Brewing Co., Triassic Vineyards, Stray Leaves Vineyard, La Bodega de Castillo, the Historic BeeKay Theater, local authors, and nonprofits. Expect thoughtful art, clear timelines, tidy files, and reusable assets that keep momentum going.
When I’m not creating, I’m learning from the natural world—foraging native plants, hunting fossils and sparkly stones, or sketching trail maps after a good walk. My coffee order: iced dirty chai with almond milk. Email is the best way to reach me—I’m often on the go, but I always make time for good people and good ideas.
